Spread Those Wings and Fly

As behind as I am on photo sorting, I have managed to make my way through the photos I captured during my visit to Nashville in April of this year. While many people associate Nashville with country music, there's plenty more to take in when visiting the area.

Nashville is situated in pretty geography, and its lushness really shone this spring. The opportunity to be outdoors a lot allowed me to find unexpected gems, especially when it comes to birds. I saw way more birds on this trip than I anticipated, including many at Centennial Park, a place more known for its life sized Parthenon replica.

Centennial Park has an artificial lake near the Parthenon that was pretty popular with the visitors (myself included). Honestly, the park was probably my favorite part of the trip. I spent a very large part of the day just walking around taking pictures. And this was easy to manage since I stayed in a hotel right across the street from the park. My room even faced the park, which really made for a lovely view.

That's not to say Centennial Park is the only place I visited during my Nashville. I visited the zoo, which to my surprise was very fortunate for photography. Aside from the birds animals, there were some great historical artifacts for me to capture. There was also a visit to the Jack Daniels distillery, but due to the camera restrictions I didn't get as many prize shots there as I would have liked. In this case, I mean photographic shots, not alcoholic. Figure I'd clear that up.

As you can see from the above photo, I saw a lot of unique sights. And seeing a diagonal crossing outside of a megacity definitely caught me off guard. The thing is, I found some strange things when I saw only a small portion of the city. I got to Broadway but didn't see the Opryland Hotel offerings. And there are natural sights outside the city that I didn't visit. At some point I'd like to return to Nashville with my husband in tow. It may be a while before this happens, but it is on the to-do list. Hopefully there will be less flooding when I return.
