I realize its been quite some time since I've added anything to this blog. Believe me. I'm well aware of all this. This time around, though, family issues kept me from updating.
Since my last blog entry, my mom was diagnosed with lung cancer then died several months later. I have done some travelling but not all of it being completely happy. My day job has experienced radical changes that are still being realized. In short, it's been a very long, very stressful year. Photography has both been a part of this transition and placed on the back burner.
I actually took A TON of photos in 2019. I have been fighting to get them organized and appear to be losing the battle. I'd keep thinking Oh, I'll upload some this weekend and then get distracted by YouTube. It took emails from Zenfolio reminding me to update my credit card that I realized just how far behind I've fallen. I haven't had the energy, though, and the prospect of taking new photographs has been dampened because of this. All the same, I took a lot of photos because it kept me from thinking/feeling too much in regards to how much of my life was getting pulverized by forces largely outside of my control.
So the 2010s ended on a really rough note with photography output being huge but not in any real organized state for sharing. What does this mean for 2020? Well, aside from a ton of catch up work, I have more travel in the books, this time to more than one new place. Even so, there will be some callbacks to my past, such as going to a DCI show in Denver in July, something I haven't done in a few years. I'll also be heading to Nashville to explore and get some hot chicken. I adore hot chicken and really just need a solo getaway.
In between travel and organization, I plan to resume printing photos. I'm years behind not only due to my output but flat out running out of room to store my photo albums. I need to stain/assemble a new shelf for that this spring, and then I can get back to this fairly easy but still labor intensive part of being a photographer. I don't know how much of this will get done in 2020 itself, but I feel reasonably confident this will be mostly under control before 2030 rolls around. I do at least know a good portion of the 2019 photos I want to upload here. We'll take whatever starts we can get here.
